Farm Energy Audits
Since 1991, EnSave has performed farm energy audits for over 2,000 agricultural producers across the United States. There is a tremendous opportunity on the farm to save energy and money by assessing current energy use and developing a cost-effective plan to upgrade or add energy efficient equipment.
EnSave's farm energy audits follow a five-step process:
1) An initial interview to gather information about the operation and explain the audit process.
2) A farm site visit to collect information about energy use
3) Data analysis using our AutoAuditTM software program
4) Delivery of a narrative farm energy audit report analyzing current energy use and recommendations for improvement
5) Follow-up conversation to review audit recommendations and discuss opportunities for implementation
EnSave provides several types of energy audits in order to best serve each farmer, and to meet specifications required by various government cost-share programs.
Technical Assistance Report: This basic report looks at just one or two systems on the farm, and does not usually include a farm visit. This audit meets the needs of many small farms, or farms interested in only one aspect of their energy use. This report does not qualify for either the Rural Energy for America Program (REAP) or as a Agricultural Energy Management Plan.
Farm Energy Audit: This more comprehensive farm energy audit will meet the needs of many medium-sized and large farming operations. This option includes more detailed recommendations about specific equipment and field operations. This audit meets the American Society of Agricultural and Biological Engineers' Standard 612 for Performing On-Farm Energy Audits.
REAP Audit: This audit is specifically designed for the requirements of the USDA's Rural Energy for America Program (REAP), a program that offers grants and loans to farmers who install energy efficient equipment. An energy audit is an essential component of a farmer's application to this program. Additional services to complete a REAP application are also available through EnSave. This audit meets the American Society of Agricultural and Biological Engineers' Standard 612 for Performing On-Farm Energy Audits. Please click here for more information.
Agricultural Energy Management Plan: EnSave is a registered Technical Service Provider (TSP) for USDA NRCS' Agricultural Energy Management Plans, or AgEMPs. EnSave is a TSP registered in all lower 48 states. This audit meets the American Society of Agricultural and Biological Engineers' Standard 612 for Performing On-Farm Energy Audits.
